What’s the difference between a living room and a great room?

Did you know that the terms “living room” and “great room” actually refer to different things?

According to Home Selfe, a living room is a space to entertain guests in a formal way while great rooms are much more casual.

They said, “Great rooms are open spaces that bring families closer together and give them the opportunity to spend more time with one another in a comfortable setting.” They often have high ceilings and are right off of the kitchen.

Some houses might actually have both! It’s good to know the difference so you can design and furnish your space accordingly.
