For those that thought the farmhouse trend was going to be a quick fad – it’s still going strong!
House Beautiful reported, “Google’s Top Charts, which highlight topics with a high search volume each month, listed farmhouse style as the number-one trending home style of 2019. The style trended the most during the months of January, August, September, and October.”
One of the best things about the farmhouse trend is that it’s not one size fits all. It’s incredibly adaptable depending on the homeowner’s personal taste.
We have seen everything from modern farmhouse to rustic or even industrial.
So, what is the farmhouse style then?
To start, incorporating interesting and vintage pieces is a must.
The Spruce said, “Perhaps the most important thing to remember when decorating in farmhouse style is ‘don’t rush’. Charm and character can’t be bought in a day. Don’t buy just for the sake of buying, but instead peruse, meander and collect.”
Other common themes include sliding barn doors, beams, exposed wood, apron sinks, wicker, and pieces with weathered textures.
Despite what you might read, this trend doesn’t seem to be phasing out anytime soon.
House Beautiful said, “Despite the rising popularity of dark colors, wallpapered ceilings, and maximalism, the designers found that the modern farmhouse still isn’t going anywhere. While the basic elements and design inspiration of the style might be morphing, it doesn’t mean the style is dead.”
