Fall trends we are loving this year

Autumn…that time of year that evokes all the senses.

The fresh smell of rain in the air.
The sound of leaves crunching under your footsteps.
The softness of warm, cozy scarves and sweaters.
The kaleidoscope of colours in the trees.
The taste of pumpkin pie and warm apple cider.

From the moment I feel the air shift and see my first leaf glide to the ground, a feeling of nostalgia overwhelms me as I anticipate the coming months, and I start to plan how I will bring the perfect feeling of fall into my home.

If you haven’t had a chance to change up your décor for fall, it’s not too late! We have compiled our top five fall décor trends this year that are quick and simple and leave you with that warm and fuzzy feeling when you walk into the room.

Chalk paint pumpkins

We love this DIY project that uses floral pumpkins and chalk paint that you can find at your local craft store. Rather than using the traditional orange pumpkins, these custom colours allow you to create your own unique look and match whatever colour scheme you are going for this year.

The chalk paint gives these pumpkins a subtle look with the matte finish that adds to the autumn feel, and these small floral pumpkins come with a stem at the bottom that helps make the painting process easier.

Whether you choose to leave the stem in and add these to a floral arrangement or remove it and place them on your mantle or in a bowl for a centerpiece, these pumpkins are one DIY project that gets our thumbs up.

Copper accent pieces

Adding copper accent pieces is a great way to create warmth and depending on the type of copper piece you use, can give the room a vintage feel or a rustic country look.

Depending on the type of pieces you select, they don’t only have to be fashionable, but can also be functional. Use a canister as a vase for your silk plant or wheat stalks or display a vintage candelabrum on your mantle to hold your favourite pumpkin spice candles.

Pops of colour amongst muted tones

We are still in love with clean and airy rooms with muted tones that act like a blank canvas to showcase your decorating creativity. This fall, accentuate the muted tones by adding bold pops of colour to the room by switching out your throw pillows, blankets, and even lampshades.

You would be surprised at how the entire feel of the room can shift by making these few subtle changes.

The classic plaid pattern gets an update in wide, pale grey lines and flanking the cozy looking loveseat are two muted purple lampshades atop elegant bases. A vase of nearly-faded lilac-colored blossoms tops the image off, placed center of the shot on the coffee table.

Jewel tones

Burnt orange and dusty yellows have historically been the go-to for fall colours, but this year, we are seeing lots of deep jewels tones adding another level of sophistication to the room.
When deciding on that adde
d pop of colour this fall, consider trying a deep amethyst or bold emerald that will give the room a royal richness.
