3 top spring cleaning tips for clearing out clutter

When the spring rain is washing away winter dirt outside your home, consider it your cue to wash your hands of the clutter inside your home.

If you can’t give away items to friends or family, or sell the items on the internet, here are some of the best ways to get rid of unwanted items.

One option is to hire a HeyBryan Expert to help you with junk removal. They’ve been approved by the Bryan Baeumler team, so you can feel confident they are home services professionals who are intent on getting the job done efficiently.

If you don’t yet have access to a HeyBryan Expert in your location however, there are some other options to clear the clutter.

Sort items into categories

Check your closets, cupboards and other storage spaces and, if there’s stuff that you no longer use, these items can be categorized and sorted into groups. Three simple groups you items can be grouped for are:

  • Charities
  • Curb-side garbage and recycling
  • Waste depots

When sorting through what to give to charity, keep clothes separate. Clothing for charity can be taken to special donation boxes often found in parking lots of gas stations and malls, or taken directly to charity organizations if they have a depot or store location.

You can also call charity organizations to see if they’ll come to your home to pick up clothing donations. They’ll let you know what day they can come, where to leave the items, and how to specifically mark the bags and boxes.

Household items such as books, small furniture and appliances can also be picked up by some charity organizations, but ask what they do and don’t accept.

Building supplies such as cabinetry, countertops and doors can go to reuse depots that specialize in construction debris.

Curb-side garbage and recycling

Ordinary waste can go out with your regular garbage and recycling of course, however there are a lot of surprisingly large and odd items that can also be picked up by city service workers such as appliances, mattresses and couches.

Call your city services, or do an internet search for your city’s waste disposal information, to find out what items they’ll pick up and on what days.

Junk removal

If your stuff can’t go to charity or in the garbage, particularly if it’s classified as electronic or hazardous waste, call a HeyBryan junk removal Expert to take it to waste depots.

For large, non-hazardous items you can also book a HeyBryan Expertwho lists themselves as a ‘man with a truck’, to remove these for you. Discuss what the item is to see if it suits the vehicle and if you have a preference as to where it goes such as a charity or waste depot.

And if you don’t want to be bothered with sorting, delivering or hauling any of your junk away whatsoever, discuss this with the Expert as they can probably expand their services to moving the items out of your house for you, packing boxes and doing whatever is required to clear the clutter out of your house.

So all you’ll have to do is book the HeyBryan junk removal job and oversee the project without lifting a finger.
